The saddest place in Colorado

For those who follow my blogs, facebook, twitter and any other social media, you know that I usually always post positive and uplifting content. Today, however, I must address an issue that can not be swept under the rug. The issue is homelessness. Colorado Raised More Tax Revenue From Marijuana Than From Alcohol,Pot is a boon for tax revenues in Colorado, outpacing revenue from alcohol taxes in the fiscal year ending on June 30. Colorado collected almost $70 million in marijuana taxes during that time, nearly double the $42 million collected from alcohol taxes. The state had a tax holiday for marijuana on Wednesday, an event that was welcomed by consumers and producers alike. Now, with all of this money flooding the state, new real estate popping up everywhere, and yuppies getting rich virtually over night, where is all of this money going? Where is the help for those in need? WHERE IS THE MONEY? The following video was taken at a local McDonalds which usually is jam-packed with homeless people who have nowhere else to go.
They go in when the doors open and most stay until the doors close. This is happening everywhere in this city, however, every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to move here because of the marijuana and booming businesses. How about we address the issues this city really has? How about we start putting some of that money where it belongs? Please understand that I am all for the legalization, I, however, am not for how these funds are being used. Actually, I am not sure if I am because I have no idea where it's going. So please, to those who have the power to make an impact in this city let's start looking out for others. Obviously there's enough to go around. Also, if looked at for what it is. Think about this scenario, more and more people keep flooding Colorado in search of their green rush fortune, drawn in by magazine articles of how beautiful and prosperous our state is and how many opportunities there are here, then when they get here and see the littered streets, the 19 and 20 year old panhandling on the mall, the people sleeping anywhere they can fit and then they realize that this is not where they want to be, this is not where they want their businesses. After all, Colorado is not the only state with legal pot, it's just the first.
